Organic Gems Webinar Part II

March 16 @ 12:00 pm 4:00 pm

The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers Announces Date and Agenda for the Organic Gems Webinar Part-2

NAJA has a longstanding commitment to supporting gem and jewelry appraisers with industry specific education. Today, the association announced the date and agenda for the session:
Organic Gem Materials Part-2

This half-day virtual conference features four webinars specific to organic gem materials, their market, quality factors and valuation. Streamed live Saturday March 16, 2024 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM EST (NY). NAJA members viewing the program will receive 4 hours towards the 16 hours continuing appraisal education requirement.

In announcing the program, NAJA Conference Chair, Stuart Robertson stated, “Organic gem materials offer unique rewards but equally unique challenges for appraisers. This program brings together the experts best suited to address those key issues.” The cornerstone of NAJA’s mission under Executive Director, Gail Brett Levine’s leadership continues to be education. Levine states, “During this program, attendees are going to gain not only sources for comparables relevant to this specialty, but they are also going to come face to face with the broader issues that exist when appraising jewelry that features plant and wildlife products. The considerations differ between cultured, natural and imitation materials. The influence on supply, demand and of course value is not equally shared among these products.”

“The 2023 Organic Gems conference was incredibly popular. This 2024 session will prove even more beneficial to the international gem and jewelry appraisal community,” stated Levine.

Confirmed topics for the conference include:

  • US Trade in Gem Materials from Plant and Wildlife Products, Sara Yood, Deputy General Counsel, Jewelers Vigilance Committee
  • Quality and Pricing Considerations for Non-Nacreous Pearls: Melo, Conch and Quahog, Thomas Hainschwang, FGA, GGTL
  • TIPPING POINTS: Climate Crisis • Pandemic • China’s Buying Power • Influencers • Tucson Retrospective, Betty Sue King, King’s Ransom
  • Organic Gem Materials at Auction, Recent Sales, General Trends and Special Considerations,  April Matteini, GIA GG, Associate Director, Jewelry, Freeman’s Hindman Auction House

Whether your jewelry business or appraisal practice focuses on contemporary or estate jewelry, current information from the organic gem materials market is critical. Otherwise, you are conceding business to your competitors.
